Hygiene Kits

During a special service focused on peace our congregants donated hygiene items and then assembled 37 hygiene kits to be donated to our local food pantry.

Operation Christmas Child

GUMC participates in Operation Christmas Child, serving as a collection site for shoeboxes from all over the area. Each box contains small toys, school supplies, and other needed items such as washcloths, first aid kids, and more!

We would like to thank our very own Marge and Ricky Staulters who spend all year collecting donations for Operation Christmas Child. This year GUMC collected 89 boxes from our church and 314 boxes from area churches. The network that we are a part of collected over 10,000 boxes!!! That is a lot of children that will enjoy the love of Christmas as a result of the generosity of people like Marge and Ricky!!

Our annual collection culminates with a Packing Party in which community volunteers pack already donated items into boxes. Collection for needed items is ongoing: We are collecting small toys, stuffed animals, small craft items, coloring books, crayons, school supplies, socks, toothbrushes, hair brushes, hair ties and barrettes and MORE!

Follow Amelia’s shoebox as it travels from GUMC to a child in need!

Amelia’s 2023 shoebox was sent to Mozambique! Her 2024 shoebox was sent to Liberia! We are already looking forward to 2025!

Souperbowl of Caring

Our annual Souperbowl of Caring was a success. We were able to collect donations for the Galway Food Pantry and enjoyed a great fellowship with one another while feasting on the yummy soups made for us by our Sunday School!

Community Holiday Basket Project

This year the Greater Galway Community Holiday Basket Project provided 91 local needy

families, including elderly, with toiletries and gift cards for groceries over the holiday season. It

also gave gift cards or gifts to 109 children and teens for Christmas. Galway United Methodist

Church donated $970.25 to this project. Thank you for your generous support in making the

holidays happier for many in our community.
